HoD FAQ

Blah blah recycled art, blah blah copy blah paste blah blah blah.
The reason I use predrawn art (I wouldn’t call it copy/pasting myself, as all the art is done in advance from the same set of templates for the express purpose of dropping it in as needed.) is threefold. One, so I can focus on the writing instead of the artwork. I’ve lost a lot of decent comic ideas just because I couldn’t or wouldn’t draw them. Two, a gag strip isn’t as visually demanding as a serial like TNP or Brimzero, and I can get away with a set of semi-generic sprites, provided that the writing is expressive enough to stand on its own. Three, this method is a huge timesaver. I can keep up with the gag strip and play with odd, random ideas, without taking work time away from more important projects. The biggest problem I had with NSR and Brimzero is that I had to focus on one or the other, and couldn’t really keep up with both at once. This was compounded by the fact that the average Brimzero page took eight to twelve hours to complete. (FYI, The Next Project will take a similar amount of time per page. Oh, but I’m looking forward to that happy task.)

But if you feel the need to use this to tear me down, by all means go for it. Every second you spend worrying about the sprites in HoD is a second you’re not worrying about the very real faults in my writing and illustrating ability. (Normally I’d prefer to be torn down in these areas as well, but it seems that there isn’t a soul on this earth that’s capable of actual constructive criticism. Not that “this sucks and your a fag lol” isn’t helpful in its own way.

Blah blah updates blah.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at midnight, Eastern. Not that there’s anything specific about the east coast, I just enjoy comics which update at 10pm the night before here in the Mountain time zone. For those of you outside the states, Mountain time zone is UTC-7 if Wikipedia is to be believed, and we observe daylight savings time in Colorado because god hates us so add an hour in the summber for UTC-8 (I think.) So depending on the season, the comic updates at either 5am or 4am UTC. I think I’ll move to Arizona so I don’t have to deal with this DST bullshit.

OMFG SWEARING BLAH BLAH!
Don’t like naughty language? You’ve certainly come to the wrong fucking place. Just be glad I don’t draw pornography.

HoD comics are broken up by all these blog posts! Boo hoo hoo!
Damn, if only there were a way to assign posts to different categories, and then list the categories in a sidebar. On the right side of this page. Under a header labeled “Categories.” If such a system existed, by being built in to Wordpress perhaps, you could simply click on the category entitled “heresy on demand,” which I feel would be fairly straightforward, and Wordpress would then display only the posts in the HoD category, which one could reasonably expect to be nothing but HoD comics and HoD-related news.

Such a system might even list the category under the post title, complete with a link to that category, and preceded by “Filed under:” so that you would need only to click on the category to view only the HoD comics.

Perhaps I could even keep a menu of all the comics and hosted sites, like the one at www.brimzero.net, and add a button for HoD which links right to the category, saving you the trouble.

But it would probably be quicker for you to think the problem through and pay attention. ^_^
