This is basically a “where are they now” kinda thing, so you’ll have to have read Ne Sais Rien to give a damn about anything discussed up there. If the wings don’t make it clear, it was established in the original HoD strips (which I’m too embarrassed to put back online) that Jay is Mal’s brother’s daughter. Shame I never wrote Jim-Bob into NSR, he had the same kinda “well educated redneck” thing going on as Ness has, except he was an actual redneck. With big ol’ bat wings. Wings seem to run in the family. And while I assume most people wouldn’t be so cavalier about their mother pulling the safety pin trick on their father, I can assure you that Jay’s mother is exactly the kind of cunt who would pull such a thing. Also the kind of cunt who would hook up with a guy’s sister to make him jealous, and get a man sent to prison out of spite. I really wish I’d written her into NSR, just because all the stories involved Malice throwing her through a plate glass window. The thought of that scene still gives me the warm fuzzies. ^_^

As much as I’d like to, because I’d really like to get back to drawing girls kissing (typically male of me I know, but I really like drawing girls kissing), the odds of more Ne Sais Rien are pretty low. Even if Hannah wasn’t a pain to draw, I doubt I’d have time to draw three new strips a week once TNP starts up. (No way in hell would I go the predrawn route like I do for HoD.) Besides, as you can see above, I didn’t exactly bring my A game when i thought that shit out. There isn’t even a letter for the game I brought to this particular HoD.

Also, I keep forgetting to mention this, but the forums exist, and I’d really like to get some activity in there to make sure there’s no problems with PHPBB3 before TNP launches.

The title has little to do with the strip. It’s more a of a declaration of fact. Sad, sad, disturbing fact.

(EDIT: I guess this is late? Seems the server isn’t friendly with the new daylight savings times? Or doesn’t do DST at all? Ah well. Not like anyone’s sitting here at 9:59 hammering F5.)

It was a bitch to cram all my hair under that damn hat. I think I look kinda nice with short hair and a hat, but I look like shit with short hair and no hat, hence my hair stays long.

I’ve been meaning to do a rip off of this Malfunction Junction comic for a while, but I’ve been trying to find a way to rip it off without literally ripping it off. (Also, Malfunction Junction is awesome and you should be reading it.) This will continue on Wednesday, and again on Friday.

And when I said in that other post that these photo comics take longer than HoD, I wasn’t lying. An HoD will take me between fifteen minutes to an hour (or longer if I have to draw a bunch of new shit), whereas these took me all damn night. So I’m gonna post the other two and eat some damn dinner.

Alternate title: Wherein I was uninspired and banged out a quick strip so I could go to goddamn bed.

If you don’t get the first panel, read Watchmen. If you don’t get the second panel, you’re not me or my dad. If you don’t get the third panel, you’ve probably never been in a head shop. They actually have signs that say “there’s no B in waterpipe.” (It’s illegal to sell a bong in a lot of places, but not illegal to sell a waterpipe.)

Regarding the second panel, my dad found a really good deal on a nice Les Paul styled (I don’t think it was an actual Gibson) semi-hollow guitar on Musician’s Friend. But they didn’t have it in a left-handed model, so he had to move the pick guard, and he’s still trying to figure out what to do with the knobs, as they occupy the same space as his arm when he’s playing. (Incidentally, that guitar sounds incredible. I want one.) So, when buying some cables from Musician’s Friend (you may notice a pattern here) I was looking at guitars and got the idea to buy a left-handed Les Paul and reversing it, just to screw with him. I’m not dumb enough to actually do it, but I do like a good left-handed joke. I have to get back at him for that coffee mug of his that says “God made a few perfect people. The rest he made right-handed.”

Well, at least I wasn’t the only one fresh out of ideas on Wednesday night. Though the good mister Dean, unlike someone I could name, didn’t turn a two week lead time into a two day lead time, at least.

I’m really, really happy with that last panel. ^_^

Although I planned to use my apartment as the basis for this background, I must point out that my apartment building doesn’t have screen doors. Nor can my apartment comfortably house three people. Or even two, unless they share a bed. (No, none of the cast share a bed, bodily fluid, or whatever innuendo you care to name.) For the record, if I had continued with the original HoD or NSR strips, it may or may not have been revealed, but had been written, that Jay and Ness share an apartment. I can only assume that Max has crashed on their couch since the end of the first HoD.

If it helps make the strip funnier, imagine Max saying “hail satan” in the same tone of voice that Leeroy Jenkins used on that video that was so popular over nine thousand years ago. I know it makes the strip funnier in my mind.
