This is why you should not draw while drunk. Or post to blogs while drunk.

The penis is why you shouldn’t take requests while drawing while drunk. As is the santa hat on the top hat. Blame my sister for those.
You won’t get “that’s pretty wacky” if you haven’t listened to NHB lately. Or you could listen to this clip. It’s quickly become a meme.
Happy New Year!
A completely random gear test. (11.1mb)
I was playing with my mixer and Audacity, trying to see how well I could handle spoken word type of stuff, and I figured “Hey, why not upload it?” It’s kinda boring, as I pretty much killed time by detailing what kind of mixer I use, and I left the bitrate set at 192, which is a good place for music but overkill for speech, hence the large filesize for about 8 minutes of audio. Overall I think it came out okay. If I can get this type of thing sounding really good and figure out the logistics involved, I might start doing a semi-regular podcast. Assuming I can get my brother in law to cohost it with me, this isn’t a solo type of endeavor.

Ian edited his post, so I felt I had to edit my response.
My Christmas gift to myself: Disabling the 5.5″ bay fan in the front of my computer’s case. I already have a 120mm fan in front of the hard drives, a 120mm and two 80mm fans in the back, and whatever fans Antec put in my power supply, so I’m covered on airflow. And as it turns out, the bay fan was louder than all the rest of them put together.
Though the downside is that the next time I’m upgrading, I’ll have to find something to put in that 5.5″ bay. I don’t have a clue what I did with the cover that came with the case.
Merry Christmas!

Color’d. You can tell that I got sloppier and sloppier with the shading on each successive layer. So very tiiired………

That’s the last of my Christmas stuff, now I can see about getting that last one colored before I crash. I kinda want to watch more of Horatio Hornblower, but NHB Radio is rerunning the old “Fuck You It’s Christmas” specials, and I don’t want to tune out. So I may as well hit Photoshop until I pass out. Fun. Helps that I’ve got enough energy drink in me to power a fucking city. (Incidentally, this year’s Fuck You It’s Christmas special should be rerun sometime between now and tomorrow, and it wasn’t too bad, even though they didn’t play my NHB Idle submission. Turns out I should’ve sent it off more than a half hour before the show aired.)
Ah, there’s the sleep-deprived inability to shut the fuck up that I missed so. Hooray!

Just something I did up for the folks over at the Venis Board. I may color it later on, but I got a little bit of work left to do before I can take care of that.
(Although it’s hard to recognize her with her hair down, this is Kalli, the Venis Mascot and character in Realms of Ishikaze.)
Oddly enough, I was listening to MC Frontalot while drawing this. I seem to be fixaded on guys named Hess tonight.
Elapsed time between idea and completion: about 15 minutes, and damned if it don’t show.

The sad thing about the poor quality of these lines is that I used openCanvas for its excellent tablet support. Rush job or no, there’s a reason I usually ink on dead trees.
But seriously, Ian McConville with a tablet? Crazy.
Y’know what’s really goddamn infuriating? Recording something in Audacity and finding out that every time, the recording isn’t synced to the rest of the tracks. Even more annoying is hitting stop and seeing the goddamn waveform jumping just a fraction to the side. At least now I know that my timing isn’t the source of the damn problem.
Anyone want to buy me a copy of Sonar or CuBase?
(Actually, I’m open to suggestions as to what I could replace Audacity with. Something that supported loops as well as recording would be nice.)

Updated some stuff, tweaked the CSS a bit, and finished the Photoshop tutorial. Also added in the Links section that’s been empty since the site launched. The gallery was also updated yesterday, and the site is just generally up to date now. Check it out.
