Stuff!

Well, that’s it, Narbonic is over. If you haven’t, now is an excellent time to read the archives. Or better yet, buy the books.

I’ve been checking out some of the people who did the final strip, largely guest artists that I’d been meaning to check out since I started reading. Fred the Clown and Get Medieval are worth a look. (Great, now I have to update recommended reading again. Times like this, I’m strongly tempted to try out the one-click install of MediaWiki that Dreamhost offers…)

Well, off to get drunk and draw the next page of Brimzero. I’ll post some of my drunken warm up sketches later tonight, I hope. (I’m not 100% convinced that Photoshop is drunk-friendly.)

Also, I’m not in the habit of making resolutions, but for 2007 I resolve to actually update my comics. I think that I only did 6 actual comic pages in 2006. (I just checked, it’s seven. Two for Brimzero and five for SEP, and that’s only if you count the cover for Chapter Two, which I still haven’t gotten permission to post outside of dA.)

Speaking of which, I’m gonna post it anyhow. I’m posting it with attribution to all the stock artists, to a free comic that I make no money off of. I think they can fucking deal.

No news is good news, I guess.

I was gonna get started on the next page of Brimzero tonight, but I decided this at about one in the morning, and I’ve yet to script out the next few pages, and since it’s action-oriented, I’ll have to storyboard the suckers. So I don’t see myself getting any sketching done tonight. Let’s just call it an end-of-year break. I promise to get really drunk and post whatever I draw, or at least write down some of the more embarrassing shit I do and make a comic out of it.

Sketchbattle is taking applications for season seven, it seems. I’m hella not applying. I could probably keep up, and I would like the exposure, but this past season just transcended sad. With the exception of a couple by Hepting/Smith and Shawn Handyside, there wasn’t a decent comic, much less a decent insult the whole time I was watching. Not that I’d be very good at it, but I think I could do better than “Hey Giana, you really ought to close those legs.” (Ah yes, making friends tonight)

In other news, I thought Afterstrife wasn’t being updated, but I, in a fit of pure genius, bookmarked an archived page instead of the one that, y’know, updates. Yess, I’m terribly clever. Afterstrife is a very decent comic, by the way.

Lessons learned tonight: I’m goddamn talkative when I’m tired.

More of a random sketch than anything else. I like how Mal came out, but it shows that I haven’t drawn Hannah in years. (In all fairness, I meant to draw her hair longer.) I’m also not too happy with the angle or the poses. But again, this was just something random.

For all the NSR fans in the crowd, this is canon, and she says yes. It’s not legal in Colrado at present time, but I hear tell that marriage is more than a slip of paper issued by the state. ^_^

Stayed home sick today, lucky me. Hopefully I can do something crazy like go to work tomorrow. Technically, i can’t post this here, as I haven’t secured permission from the stock artists involved to post this picture outside of deviantArt, so for now you get a preview. (This is why I don’t like working with stock photos, there’s all these stipulations. But CausticStock’s photos (seen in the background) are worth the hassle.)

Anyhow, you can see the full version at my dA account, it may have to have some or all of the stock-based stuff removed before it hits SEP, depending on what the stock artists say.

Didn’t get much done today, but hey, Christmas and all that. If I had my way about it, I’d enjoy the day off and get some work done, but my family still celebrates it, so what’re ya gonna do? (What really gets me is when my atheist friends tell me what they want for Christmas. Not ask, tell. That’s why a sink over two hundred dollars worth of labor into my christmas drawings for the rest of the family, and just buy them a $15 DVD each.)

Well, happy holidays, all! I’m hoping to bang out a quick NSR comic tomorrow, but I may try and finally get this page fully colored. (The chapter two cover for SEP, it’s been half-done for the last eight months.) I’m planning on trying out the Displacement Map filter to wrap a texture around the clothing in this one, that should be pretty fun.
